The business trip to Sri Lanka which took place in July 2018 was short but effective. INDCHAM management Alexander Horvath, Harish Reddy and Rohith Ramadas spent five days on the beautiful island Sri Lanka.

The business mission started with visiting Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka, Mr. Mahen Kariyawasan, in the capital city Colombo, where we exchanged possibilities of cooperation on B2B and B2G. Sri Lanka offers wide range of opportunities for Slovak companies and the fact that together with India they share the free trade zone, makes lucrative option to explore. The trip continued exploring the island with first stop at ancient site Sigiriya. The Lion Rock as they call it has 12,000 steps and one shall have a good physical condition to climb up. But the view paid off.

After Sigiriya, the group moved to the east coast of Sri Lanka visiting places near Batticaloa and Trincomalee. The trip finished by visiting a local Ceylon Tea Factory called Geragama with visit of tea plantation and farms. The local management showed us the entire production process of quality tea.

What are the current needs of Sri Lanka? According to Mr. Kariyawasan Sri Lanka's current demand is pharmceuticals, building infrastructure and construction plus renwable energy. If you operate withing these sectors (also others), your company is needed on this island. Sri Lanka's economy is growing rapidly, especially in services so don't miss the chance. Another big advantage is free trade union with India.
