Lt Gen Vinod G Khandare gave the key note address in online mode on behalf of Indian MoD.
Cooperation between India and Slovakia on defence grounds
Ambassador Ms. Apoorna Srivastava rightly pointed out the need for renewing the MOU, recognizing that the geopolitical landscape and technological advancements in the defense industry have evolved significantly since its inception. The outdated agreement poses a barrier to fully harnessing the potential benefits of current defense programs and addressing the emerging needs of both nations. The call for renewal reflects a shared commitment to modernize and elevate defense collaboration to new heights.
Success stories
MOU needs to be renewed, so both countries can get the best of current defence programs and needs. Companies like VRM which cooperates with state defence company HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) and delivers the 4D Full flight simulator to India or CSM Industry which cooperates with defence state company BEML (Bharat Earth Movers Limited) on developing the new mobile BEML UDS Excavator, or Slovak Microstep with TATA and their meteorological stations are bright examples how to make defence business in India. And there are many more.
These success stories underscore the potential for collaboration that extends beyond government-level agreements. The involvement of private enterprises from both nations in defense projects is a testament to the vibrant ecosystem that can be nurtured through renewed collaboration. It also highlights the role of the private sector in driving innovation and efficiency in defense manufacturing, contributing to the overall growth of the defense industry in both countries.
Key Note from Lt.General Khandare
One of the focal points of the seminar was the keynote address delivered by Lieutenant General Vinod G Khandare, representing the Indian Ministry of Defence. In the era of digital connectivity, his online address underscored the commitment of the Indian government to strengthening ties with Slovakia in the defense sector.
In addition to fostering collaboration in traditional defense sectors, both countries can explore opportunities in emerging areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and unmanned systems. The evolving nature of modern warfare demands a forward-looking approach that embraces cutting-edge technologies. By doing so, India and Slovakia can position themselves as leaders in the global defense landscape.

As both nations navigate the complexities of the contemporary security environment, a strengthened partnership will not only enhance their individual defense capabilities but also contribute to regional and global stability. The collaborative spirit exhibited during the seminar lays the foundation for a dynamic and mutually beneficial defense relationship between India and Slovakia in the years to come.
On the Fun note
No Indian event shall be without proper Indian food. And where else to go in Bratislava than visiting our friend and Master Chef Rajesh from Royal Kashmir Restaurant on Chorvatska 4. The food is always great and hospitality even better. It's not the biggest fancy shopping mall place, rather a cozy place in the Old town with perfect Indian food. Mr. Rajesh prepares regularly catering for Indian Embassy events and didn't miss this occasion either. Thank you.
Mr. Rakesh, President of Indian Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic with Chef Rajesh from Royal Kashmir Restaurant.
